PROSOPAGNOSIA
12 x 16 in (30 x 40 cm)
Oil on Canvas
Prosopagnosia, an extremely rare neurological condition is caused by a lesion in the fusiform gyrus, a specific region of the brain which enables facial recognition. Individuals with this deficit are quite literally “face blind” rendered unable to recognize, comprehend or remember faces despite having no visual impairments.
.
This painting is an embodiment (of sorts) of an otherwise indescribable experience. If you look long enough, a distorted face begins to emerge but without any actual identifiable features.
